Choose the Right Perry Resident Record First
Start with an address in the Houston County property search when the question concerns a parcel or owner. Start with a full name and an approximate date in the Houston court index when it concerns a case. Georgia My Voter Page is the proper route for a person checking their own registration. A historical name or address belongs first in the Judith A. Golden Local History Room, Georgia Historic Newspapers, or the Perry Area Historical Society Museum.
No source is a complete household list. The assessor names taxable owners, not every occupant. A voter file omits unregistered people and shields protected addresses. A printed directory includes the people and businesses its publisher collected at that time. Record the date, database, spelling, and stable identifier from every result before comparing sources.
- Write down the exact name, address, phone number, or year already known.
- Search the official roll best matched to that fact.
- Save the parcel number, case number, book and page, or other durable key.
- Confirm the match through a second custodian or historical collection.
- Ask the correct office for a terminal search or copy when the web stops short.
Where Perry Resident Records Are Kept
Perry City Hall keeps municipal material, but Houston County holds most records that connect people to land, court matters, estates, and elections. The city boundary also reaches into Peach County at its northwestern edge, so a Perry mailing address alone does not settle jurisdiction. Verify an edge parcel in the county GIS before choosing a clerk or assessor. The Perry street directory explains that address test in detail.

Turn a Perry Address Into a Parcel Record
Houston County qPublic accepts owner name, address, parcel ID, or alternate ID. A parcel card can show the situs, owner mailing address, legal description, tax district, valuation year, land and improvement values, building details, sale references, map, and homestead field. Situs identifies the land; owner mailing identifies where assessment correspondence goes. Neither proves who is inside the household.
Use the parcel number as the stable key. Street spelling, unit styles, and mailing labels can change, while the parcel number and legal description link the assessment card to deeds and plats. The official Houston County assessor page provides both the search route and the office fallback.
The county assessor page remains the reliable starting point when the vendor search changes or does not load. The office can also clarify parcel-mapping questions that the public interface does not expose.
Follow a Perry Owner Into the Deed Index
An assessment is current evidence, while a deed explains the legal transfer behind it. Copy the present owner, parcel number, legal description, and any book-and-page reference from qPublic. Search the Houston land-record links or GSCCCA real-estate index for that owner as a grantee. Read the acquisition deed, record its grantor, grantee, execution and recording dates, legal description, book and page, and referenced plat. Then search the grantor as an earlier grantee to move backward.
Record terms: a grantor transfers an interest; a grantee receives it; book and page point to the recorded instrument; a parcel is the assessor's mapped tax unit. These identify records, not household relationships.
The official online cutoff is not posted. Older books and definitive coverage require the Real Estate Division counter or a public terminal. Georgia Archives and FamilySearch extend the trail through microfilmed pre-1900 deeds and indexes.
Keep Perry City and County Requests Separate
The Perry City Clerk at 808 Carroll Street keeps council-adopted records, ordinances, board appointments, and city financial-disclosure filings. Community Development at 741 Main keeps permits, planning, annexation, zoning, subdivision, and inspection material. Perry Police handles incident and accident reports through its own release process. Land ownership, deeds, plats, liens, divorces, most civil and criminal cases, estates, and marriage licenses belong to Houston County custodians.
That division matters when a portal has no result. A city request cannot produce a county deed, and the assessor cannot certify a court pleading. Name the exact record, office, address or case identifier, and date range rather than asking an agency to compile everything about a person.
Compare Today's Perry Directory Sources
Official indexes serve separate government purposes. Choose one by what it can establish, and resist merging people who share a name. The Perry resident lookup gives a complete one-person verification sequence.
| Perry source | People represented | Custodian | Access channel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Property roll | Owners of taxable parcels | Houston Tax Assessor | qPublic or assessor office |
| My Voter Page | The voter making a self-check | Georgia SOS | Free identity-based lookup |
| Deed and lien indexes | Parties to recorded instruments | Superior Court Clerk | Index, terminal, or counter |
| Court index | Named parties and case roles | Relevant court clerk | Benchmark, re:SearchGA, or clerk |
| Historical collections | Listed residents and families | Library, museum, archives | Digital and in-person research |
Commercial people-finder output is only a lead. It may merge people, retain old addresses, and hide its sources. An official parcel card, docket, deed, or certified copy has a named custodian, record date, and correction route.
Check Perry Court Names in the Correct Division
Perry Municipal Court, Houston Magistrate, State, Superior, and Probate courts do different work. The municipal name, case-number, or citation-number tool retrieves a next court date, not a broad county case history. Houston Benchmark can show a case number, division, filing date, case type and status, party roles, attorneys, judge, docket events, and disposition when entered. A docket remains an index, not the complete file.
View the Houston County court-search entry shown here.
Use a case number whenever possible, then request the file or certified copy from the clerk for the court shown.
Houston Superior and State courts moved to Benchmark in November 2025, and PeachCourt access ended after November 28, 2025. re:SearchGA is another statewide route, but availability depends on the participating court, user role, and document security. Sealed, juvenile, victim, adoption, and other protected material will not be public.
Use My Voter Page for a Perry Self-Check
Georgia My Voter Page asks for first initial, last name, county, and date of birth. It can return the voter's registration status, precinct, districts, polling place, sample ballot, and participation information. It is for the voter to verify their own registration, not to browse a Perry street or find everyone in a ZIP code.
Open Georgia My Voter Page, pictured below, for the official self-lookup.
The authenticated result is more precise than a general name search, but it is not a complete list of adults at an address.
Public elector lists are a different channel ordered under Georgia election law. They omit protected VoteSafe addresses and sensitive identifiers, and commercial use is prohibited. Use resident records only for lawful personal, genealogical, property, or civic research.
Match Perry Marriage, Death, and Probate Evidence
Relationship research often crosses custodians. Houston Probate Court issues marriage licenses and holds estate matters. Georgia DPH keeps birth and death records from January 1919 forward and marriage records for 1952 through 1996. The Houston FamilySearch marriage collection spans 1832 through 2015, while the statewide probate collection includes Houston material among records from 1742 through 1990.
Current birth certificates are restricted to eligible applicants. Certified death copies require an authorized relationship, though state guidance permits a plain-paper public copy with the Social Security number redacted. Divorce confirmation through DPH is separate from the decree and case file held by the Superior Court clerk. Georgia sources do not establish a simple automatic 100-year or 50-year opening rule for certificates.
For an heir question, begin with the Probate Court's 2016-present estate index, capture the estate number and decedent name, and ask for the public petition, notices, inventory, or order available in that file. Older probate books, obituaries, marriage evidence, and deeds can bridge earlier generations.
Request Perry Records That Are Not Online
The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. ยงยง 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, is the fallback for existing public records not posted online. Perry's City Clerk accepts a web form or email at cityclerk@perry-ga.gov. Ask for a defined record, such as permits for one address and date range, a named council meeting, or an incident report number. An agency does not have to create a new report.
An agency normally must produce responsive records within three business days or provide a written schedule, cost estimate, and statutory basis for withholding. The lowest qualified employee's time may be charged after the first fifteen minutes. Ask for native electronic files where practical and set a cost ceiling. Protected fields should be redacted from an otherwise public record.
The Perry City Clerk page shows the city's request channels.
Send the request to the actual custodian, since City Hall cannot produce county deeds, state certificates, or court files held elsewhere.
Perry's Growth Makes Record Dates Matter
Perry's population rose from 20,624 in the 2020 census to an estimated 25,699 in 2025, 24.8 percent above the revised base. That pace makes the date on a result essential. New subdivisions may not appear in older directories, a five-year-old mailing address may no longer be current, and annexation can change the responsible local office without changing the postal city.
Development also suggests which records are likely to help. Downtown took much of its present form in the 1910s and 1920s. Robins Air Force Base helped drive postwar expansion, I-75 altered travel and growth in the 1960s, and Perry Parkway shifted activity outward in the 1990s and early 2000s. Central properties may have long deed, newspaper, census, and preservation trails, while edge subdivisions may depend mostly on recent plats, deeds, and permits.
The city map answers a municipal-boundary question; the parcel record is still needed to confirm the county and the correct land-record custodian.
Separate Perry Residents Who Share a Name
A common first and last name is not enough to join records. Build a small comparison sheet with the full name and variants, the date attached to each record, the address as written, and the stable identifier. A parcel number anchors property material. Book and page anchor a deed. A case number anchors a docket. An estate number anchors probate. A business control number or professional license number belongs to a different official trail and should not be treated as proof of a home address.
Compare at least two independent details before deciding records concern the same person. A spouse or relative named in a public marriage, probate, obituary, or deed record can help. So can a consistent middle initial, a sequence of addresses, or a matching timeline. Treat an address in a filing as evidence for the filing date only. Registered-agent and business-office addresses describe a legal or commercial contact, not necessarily where an officer lives. Owner mailing addresses can belong to a trustee, business, care-of recipient, or post office box.
When two official sources disagree, note both dates instead of choosing the result that looks newer. Correct an error with the office that created the record, using its own correction procedure and supporting documents. Then recheck downstream copies after the custodian updates the source. Commercial directory entries may refresh slowly or combine records from several people, so their category-level opt-out process does not correct the underlying assessor, court, voter, or deed record.
Use a stopping rule. Protected addresses, sealed cases, restricted certificates, and private membership lists are limits, not obstacles to work around. Do not use public records to stalk, harass, threaten, or expose someone whose address is protected.
Find Historical Perry Resident Directories
Verified Perry directory evidence includes a professional review of editions from 1966 through 2016 for a Macon Street and Meeting Street environmental study and a documented R. L. Polk Perry edition from 1997. Those facts do not establish a continuous annual run or prove that every volume has a reverse street section. The Perry city directory collections guide explains how to confirm holdings and read an entry cautiously.
The Judith A. Golden Local History Room at 1201 Washington Street offers staff-assisted local research, family histories, and photographs. The Perry Area Historical Society Museum holds family files, yearbooks, artifacts, and photographs. Georgia Historic Newspapers covers Houston County issues from 1870 through 2008, and the Digital Library of Georgia offers selected Perry council books, including minutes from 1924 to 1943.
Contact branch staff before traveling to confirm a directory year, copying rules, and whether staff-assisted research is available.

Directory entries, yearbooks, newspaper notices, council petitions, and family files work best together. A first or last appearance marks only what that source captured, not a precise move, death, or household change.
